Honor Your Father and Mother

Because God is objectively good and righteous, those who are joined to Him can have a real and true view of honor. Our own parents of course all have their vices, while some seem to only have vices and no virtues. God nevertheless tells us to honor them. For those who have received the great and increasingly rare blessing of virtuous parents, the work ahead is to be good stewards of their legacy and build upon that legacy to give our future generations something even greater. In our society, we tend to sort people. Somewhere along the way, experts determined that learning works best when we are grouped by our age. It makes sense, does it not? Little kids like animal crackers, and teens like pizza, so why not lump them together with their own kind? And man, us parents! Is it not attractive to just let someone else look after our kids?
